Austral Harmony takes its name from an early collection of Australian poetry, and is an ensemble of Australian musicians who specialise in playing music of the 18th century, fostering a particular interest in the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Using historical instruments they present innovatively designed programmes and promote less familiar repertoire supported by thorough musicological research. Austral Harmony has performed at Melba Hall, Trinity College Melbourne, the New England Bach Festival, St James’ Church Sydney, for Australasian Double Reed Society National Conferences, the Early Music Society Queensland, Australian Bach Society, and Adelaide Baroque. Regular recitals at the Wesley Music Centre in Canberra help raise funds for an Early Music Scholarship. Future engagements include an Early Music Festival in Canberra and a masterclass & concert tour highlighting the oboe da caccia.
