I expect some of you will already have heard that Richard Gill has died. I don't need to say how much of a loss this is, and for the last few weeks it has been inevitable. I spoke to him last week, and he was a shadow of his former self.
We were going to dedicate our performance of the Mozart Requiem to him. I know I will hear no dissenting voices if I say we will now dedicate it to his memory. It is one of Richard's favourite pieces, and its appropriateness on this occasion needs no clarification.
The Byron community has had use of its beautiful Steinway for ten years now. In order to ensure that the quality of the Steinway is maintained it is essential to have regular services by a qualified Steinway technician. Our piano is now due for major maintenance, stage one of which will cost $10,000. The complete maintenance will cost around $30,000. Byron Music Society events have already raised $8,000 but we need more.
Please consider making a donation to this worthy cause, no matter how big or small. All donations are tax deductible.
This keyboard show our progress towards our goal of $40,000 for the Steinway Maintenance Fund. Can you help it grow? Find out how to donate.
