To our lovely audience
In the current COVID climate no-one knows from week to week what lockdowns or restrictions will be in place at any time in the future. This makes concert planning, always a complex matter, fraught with uncertainty. Consequently the BMS has decided that it will only schedule one concert in 2022, the postponed Brahms Requiem. This will, as is usual with our Big Sing events, be the largest scale orchestral and choral concert in the whole Northern Rivers region, and will certainly be a central feature of whatever musical life happens next year.
We know that you are suffering from the lack of live music much as the musicians who are unable to perform. We aim to return to “Normal”, whatever that will look like, in 2023, with a season of 6 concerts. In the meantime smaller scale concerts, including house concerts, may be organised by the general musical community of this region at fairly short notice when restrictions permit.

The Byron community has had use of its beautiful Steinway for seventeen years now. In order to ensure that the quality of the Steinway is maintained it is essential to have regular services by a qualified Steinway technician. Our piano is now due for major maintenance, stage one of which will cost $10,000. The complete maintenance will cost around $50,000. Byron Music Society events have already raised $8,000 but we need more.
Please consider making a donation to this worthy cause, no matter how big or small. Donations over $2 are tax deductible of course.
This keyboard show our progress towards our goal of $40,000 for the Steinway Maintenance Fund. Can you help it grow? Find out how to donate.
